Many Games Can Target Speech, Language, and Social Skills

One of the questions I get most often from parents is “What can we do at home to support our child’s speech and language.” The good news is there are many great functional and motivating ways to elicit speech and language in your home. Numerous card and board games can target speech, language, and social skills while also offering a fun time for family bonding.

Don’t think about speech therapy homework as “work” – it really can be seamlessly incorporated into fun activities your family enjoys. Below are a few great resources of fun activities and readily available games that can be used as therapy homework. Enjoy!

Practicing Speech & Language Skills

Functional & Motivating

Practicing speech and language skills should be functional and motivating in order to best develop skills across many settings. Don’t hesitate to ask KateSaid about more functional (and fun) ways that you can practice target skills at home!

Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel.
